XK120 chassis 671284 was ready for delivery from Coventry 14th June 1951 and dispatched from the factory for Hoffman in New York on the 2nd of July 1951 and shortly after arrival in the US modified for racing purposes by Charles Wallace probably with some assistance from Charles Hornburg.

XK120 OTS 671284

XK120 roadster 671284 has been sent to Concours Sportscar Restoration from Denmark for a total restoration which will include substantial modifications to transform the car into a very fast yet practical XK. The car has a very interesting history and is as follows:

When the XK 120 left the factory it was painted pastel blue with light blue interior and a sand-coloured hood. It seems to have kept the body colour, pastel blue, until about 1962, where it changed to a red, "rosso corso", colour.

In 1987, the XK120 was aquired in USA by a member of the UK Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, who painted the car black and gave it a beige interior together with a black hood. In 1995 the car was purchased by the current owner who had some modifications done for rallying and racing and by now the car, essentially unrestored, is well due for restoration.
Chassis No. 671284 raced at Laguna Seca, Torrey Pines, Elkhart Lake, Sebring and Santa Clara Road Races, from which it still carries a badge saying "Contestant - Santa Clara Road Races 1954". According to Raul Ricardo Hunziker, who owned the car from 1970 to 1987, it was also raced at Daytona Beach and other racetracks on the US east coast.

The car has been fitted with a MKII Jaguar cylinder head, extractors, aluminum brake drums, sandcast two inch SU's, twin exhaust system and oil cooler.

This special car will feature the original engine sleeved to 3.8 and fitted with forged pistons, Carillo rods, race harmonic balancer and aluminum flywheel. The head will be replaced with a correct early head and extensively ported and modified to LWT C Type spec with stainless valves, lightweight valve gear and big cams. Triple 45DCOE webers will be fitted and a six branch extractor system with a three inch single exhaust. A Tremac five speed will be fitted and the ENV diff will be replaced with a Salisbury diff and fitted with a LSD centre. Adjustable GAZ shocks will be fitted and vented disc brakes along with upgrades to the suspension. A pair of our replica bucket seats will replace the originals and the Borrari wheels that were on the car will be restored and refitted.

But before that can happen, we need to resurrect the body! The LH front guard has been replaced with an XK140 guard, the firewall has rust and many non original holes. The sill and shut faces need replacing as does the boot floor. The chassis is bent on the LH side so, that will need to be repaired first.

The chassis has been sandblasted and primed ready for repairs. An extra hole has been cut in the center chassis member, presumably for a twin exhaust system and the kink in the LH chassis rail can be seen in this photo.
