              C TYPE #5

C Type #5 was built as a 1953 Semi lightweight car with a few extras for historic racing and rallying. We have fitted a full braided fuel line, braided brake lines and four point harnesses to the car.

The engine for this is a correct 3.4 unit that has been taken out to 3.8 litres and we have fitted forged Venolia pistons and Total Seal gapless rings. The entire bottom end including new aluminum flywheel and diaphram clutch have been balanced. The cylinder head has been completely reworked with the parts modified using a flow bench, new 1 7/8 inlet and 1 5/8 exhaust valves with uprated springs, titanium retainers and lightweight buckets have been fitted. The cams are fairly big, 420 thou lift, 270 deg at 50 thou duration on inlet and 258 deg 50 thou duration on exhaust. Inlet is triple 45DCOE webers on a replica C Type inlet manifold and exhaust is handmade tubular manifolds into twin 21/4inch stainless system.

Completed and road registered March 2008.

The twin two inch exhaust is handmade with twin resonators, the same as the final three factory cars built by Jaguar. Whilst the car is in the final stages of completion, the alloy seats are handmade ready for trimming.

The body has been painted in classic British Racing Green and can now be reunited to the chassis. With the centre tub in position the fuse box, dash and wiring can be run.

Through road use and competition outings, further improvements and developments have occurred including removal of the cylinder head fitting larger Isky camshafts, stainless valves and lightweight valve train components with a subsequent increase in choke size to 38mm. The result was an increase in performance and the car now makes nearly 250 rear wheel horsepower. We have also fitted a crane multi spark ignition system and a Halda unit for rallying.
